“My name is Roland, I’m from Lebanon. I started my career five years ago at Melanion Capital, and I’m currently the managing director of Melanion Lebanon. I was enrolled in the EDHEC Corporate Finance online program, and I just graduated last month.”
What were your expectations before joining the EDHEC Online MSc in Corporate FInance?
“At first, as any other educational programme, I was expecting to enhance my knowledge in finance, as I came from an engineering degree. But later on, I discovered that it wasn’t just about enhancing my knowledge; it was also about personal development, networking, and getting to know other brilliant people in the industry. Joining the EDHEC Alumni network exposed me to many connections, allowing me to make new friends and establish connections for myself and my company in the future.”
Which courses had a particular impact on your learning experience?
“Specifically, the courses related to corporate finance and managerial accounting were extremely important for me and my career. Surprisingly, other courses, such as my electives in agile leadership, SME governance, and digital transformation, also proved to be very important for my personal development and growth.”
How do you apply your new skills in your job?
“At Melanion currently, I was tasked with a new project where we needed to create a valuation for our new business. The courses in corporate finance and valuation helped me a lot in creating our financial models and projections for this new business. This equipped me a lot, with a better knowledge and confidence in what I am doing, allowing me to prepare an excellent pitch for our investors and our next capital increase.”
As a graduate, how do you look back on your experience?
“I couldn’t be happier. I think it was the best choice I made two years ago. I can confidently say that this was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and I would highly recommend this program to any other student looking for an online option, this could be the best option for them in finance. I wish the best of luck to every student in their career.”
