“I’m Michael Favat, I’m 43 years old. I work and live in Nice, in France, and I joined the EDHEC programme last year in 2023.”
Why did you choose to join EDHEC Online Master’s Programme?
“I have chosen the Master of Science in Data Management and Business Analytics Online for several reasons. The first one is the content of the programme because that combines both technical and business courses, which is very important. The second reason is about personal development because this programme is really teamwork oriented. The third reason, I would say is the brand, the brand value, because the EDHEC brand is really recognized by companies in France, in Europe, and even abroad. And the last reason, last but not least, is also the dynamics with the alumni network, which brings opportunities to meet new people and to make new friends.”
Can you share a specific instance where the programme helped you solve a real-world business challenge in your current role?
“You learn how to use Tableau and to make some accurate predictions, prescriptions and to handle data sets. We also learned various database technologies. And that helped me to envision the architecture of the CRM of my company. And we also learned some machine learning techniques, and that was really helpful for me to figure out how to set up the right smart pricing for the future.”
How has the programme helped you stay ahead in your industry?
“I will mention mainly two courses, machine learning and deep learning. Those two courses brought us the foundations of AI techniques. And for example, we learnt how to make predictions and prescriptions from a big dataset, how to do sentiment analysis, from social intelligence, and how to do image recognition. So, various techniques, all belonging to this AI world, and that definitely enriched our knowledge in this area, to apply those techniques on other use cases regarding our mission.”
Looking back, how do you feel the programme has shaped your long-term career trajectory?
“This programme provided me a strong update of knowledge and also a new set of skills in the data science field. And that will definitely influence my leadership and the value I can bring in my upcoming missions and objectives. So, as a long term path for my career, I envision a position combining data management, process improvements, business development and strategy.”
