Capucine Colombet

Freelance consultant

“Hello my name is Capucine Colombet, I live in Lyon in France. I’ve worked for almost 20 years in the field of information technology with a specialisation in digital marketing in various industries such as retail, automotive, healthcare and pharmaceuticals.”

Why did you want to pursue further education online?

“I chose to continue to study because as my career progresses, I see new domains, such as data science and artificial intelligence, reshaping the whole industry. So it was really important for me to learn new skills and new competencies. And I wanted an online format because I have to be flexible with my professional activities and my personal life”

Why did you choose to join this online master’s programme?

“I chose the Data Management and Business Analytics programme because it’s quite unique. It’s a rare combination of business acumen, for example, innovation management and ethics in data, alongside cutting edge technical skills such as cloud computing and machine learning, so it’s very, very unique. And, of course, EDHEC has an excellent reputation. That’s why I have chosen this school.”

How was EDHEC Alumni valuable to you?

“I had the chance to participate in several alumni events in my hometown city, Lyon in France. And I had the chance to experience the collaborative and dynamic spirit of this event. And thanks to that, I could expand my professional network because I made contact with people working in data management in the healthcare sector, and for one of my projects I could interview some experts in the field of artificial intelligence so that was really, really valuable for me.”

How did you stay connected to real-world business challenges throughout the programme?

“I really loved the machine learning and deep learning courses because in my former work as an associate director in a marketing team, I used to work with data scientists and these people are very difficult to understand because they have their own vocabulary and knowledge. And now, thanks to this new knowledge, I am able to understand them, to challenge them and also to be a bridge between the technical activities and the business, which is very valuable. The second example is the consulting project, with two of my classmates, we are working on social media listening, regarding medicine shortage, which is a really important problem specifically in Europe. And we will also deepen this analysis by using generative artificial intelligence tools. It’s a way to tackle a real-world problem thanks to what we have learned with the programme.”
